Easily roasts 1/2 pound up to 1 pound at a time. I've used specialized hot air machines before and was frustrated by only being able to do a few ounces at a time. Perfect size for home use. Some chaff does escape out of the opening during the final part of the roast. Some of that chaff burns up from the gas burner. Obviously you never leave a device like this unattended so it hasn't been an issue. A screen could be added by the manufacturer to stop this.
