Prosopis pallida is a spreading bush or moderately sized tree, bearing spines, spikes of greenish-yellow flowers, and long pods filled with small brown seeds. It is a successful invasive species due to its ability to reproduce in two ways: production of large numbers of easily dispersed seeds, and suckering to create thick monotypic stands that shade out nearby competing plants. The tree grows quickly and can live for over a millennium.

Mesquite beans are really delicious, and this is one of the few extracts available. While the distinctive aroma, flavor and sweetness of mesquite beans is present, I found the glycerin base to be distracting and off putting. Also, while the brand and marketing is all about Hawaii, the beans themselves are from Peru. It's really unfortunate that they're not using Hawaiian mesquite beans (kiawe) for this, and instead importing it from Peru (presumably because that stuff is cheaper due to lower wages paid to mesquite pickers). At least they use Hawaiian water.
